Repauno-Delaware River Partners – New Terminal – Gibbstown, NJ
The scope entailed driving 250 H-piles inland of the waterfront and installing a 1,000-plus-linear-foot sheet pile wall. A massive, monolithic pile cap was installed along the waterfront that enveloped the H-piles and sheet pile wall. The project was awarded under an accelerated four-month schedule for what would normally be a six-month schedule for this scope of work. Commerce developed an alternate pile design to take advantage of material availability and enable completion of the work within schedule duration. This change also yielded cost savings that were passed on to the client. The sheet piles were installed along the edge of the river and were subject to obstructions from an existing structure below grade. This required extensive excavation and demolition of the structure to ensure that the sheets maintained their alignment.
