Commerce Construction Grows Its Team in Northern New Jersey & New York

June 23, 2022

Commerce Construction is pleased to announce that Mike Quadagno, PE has joined our team and will focus on work in the Northern New Jersey and New York regions.

A licensed Professional Engineer in New York, Mr. Quadagno brings over 30 years of experience in marine construction and engineering, diving, and deep foundation work around the northern New Jersey and New York harbors.

“We are very fortunate to welcome Mike and look forward to adding his expertise in marine construction.  Mike is looking forward to partnering with the engineering community and our clients who have waterfront facilities in the area”, says Commerce President, Paul Martino.

Commerce was recently awarded a multi-million-dollar diving project at a major oil terminal in Newark Bay.  The repair work was needed to combat years of deterioration on a critical dock structure that hosts ships and barges, 24/7.

The work included installing pile jackets and pile coatings under the dock, as well as seawall repairs and sacrificial anode cathodic protection.  The work was challenging for our divers given the tight conditions, limited visibility, and cold waters during the early winter months this year.  Following successful completion of this first project, our client soon awarded us a second multi-million-dollar project, this time on the Arthur Kill Channel.  Once again, our divers hit the water and got to work on pile jackets, pile coatings and anodes under the dock.  We achieved an on-time and on-budget completion of this project in June.

The engineers who design and oversee marine construction projects in the mid-Atlantic area have known Commerce for years and appreciate our collaborative and professional spirit, along with our dedication to safe and high-quality execution of their projects.

Our work on the Paulsboro Marine Terminal, a four-year, $160MM new wharf project on the Delaware River, only reinforced the engineers’ respect and admiration of our crews and field management teams.

Given our strong safety record and reputation on the Paulsboro job, Commerce was just invited to bid several major construction projects at the port facilities in Elizabeth and Newark.
